KTU-Space Club ranked 3rd at TEKNOFEST 2023 with its UAV project
The X2-KTUSPACE Team, which operates within the Space Club of our University, competed in the TEKNOFEST 2023 International Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Category and won the Third Prize with its project called "Gathering Intelligence for Military Personnel".
The X2-KTUSPACE Team of our university was selected as one of the finalists among 3,000 applicants in the TEKNOFEST 2023 International Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Competition Category and won the Third Prize among 110 teams competing in the final.
The UAVs developed within the scope of the project have domestic software and hardware and work synchronously with the controllers produced by X2-KTUSPACE Team members. Our students stated that as X2-KTUSPACE Team, they focused on using domestic and national products in their projects and they prepared for the competition by performing test flights at Karadeniz Technical University Central Campus.
The project named "Gathering Intelligence for Military Personnel," which competed in the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Competition Category and received an award, was created through the collaborative efforts of Ömer ESER, Team Captain from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, along with Furkan BAYIRLI, Ümmügülsüm ALCI, Ahmet Niyazi KOÇAK, and Eray KAHYA, Enes ÖZBEY from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mustafa Cenk AYDIN from the Department of Computer Engineering, and Nazlıcan CENGİZ from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
Making a statement about the project, the team members conveyed important information: Two UAVs were designed as Operation and Patrol. The Operation UAV goes to certain coordinates autonomously and places intelligence blocks. These blocks collect data about the region with sensors equipped with domestic hardware and software, and these data are transferred to the ground station. The patrol UAV, on the other hand, scans the area left by the operational UAV and identifies dangerous elements with artificial intelligence. Thus, military personnel are informed about all kinds of dangers without going to the region.
Congratulations to our students who achieved this success.
