KTU Brings Innovative Patent-Based Technologies Together with Investors at Arsin OIZ

Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) recently organized the "Black Sea Technology and Innovation Day: Investor Meetings" at the Arsin Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ), marking another successful initiative to bridge the gap between academia and industry. The event, coordinated by KTU’s Technology Transfer Application and Research Center (TTM) in collaboration with Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TTSO) and Trabzon TEKNOKENT, aimed to showcase university-developed, patent-based technologies to potential investors.

The event aimed to enhance the visibility of collaborations between the university and the business sector, and to connect commercialization-ready projects with potential investors. It was attended by our Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk URSAVAŞ, Arsin OIZ Board Chair Dursun Ali SAKARYA, TTSO President Erkut ÇELEBİ, along with numerous industry representatives, investors, academics, and students.

In his opening speech, KTU Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI highlighted the significance of transforming academic knowledge into economic value, stating, “It’s crucial for universities to not only produce knowledge but also turn it into value for society and the economy. The collaboration between universities and the industry is key to achieving this.”

Thirty innovative technologies, ranging from health tech and AI to advanced materials and energy solutions, were presented at the event, drawing significant attention from investors. Notable projects included award-winning technologies such as the "Deep Learning-Based Anomaly Detection System" and the "Hybrid Thermoplastic Composite Material Production System."

The event also featured a panel discussion on “Next-Gen Industry: Innovation-Driven Global Business Models,” where experts shared insights into scaling innovations in the global market. Additionally, selected technologies were presented to national investment networks, strengthening KTU’s commitment to fostering sustainable partnerships and contributing to regional technological development.

KTU plans to continue hosting such events to support the commercialization of innovations and enhance the region's technology infrastructure.
