Academics of KTU won 9 awards at the Istanbul ISIF'23
Our university achieved great success with 9 awards at the 8th Istanbul International Invention Fair (ISIF'23). Inventors at the Karadeniz Technical University Technology Transfer Application and Research Center (KTU TTM) took part in the fair with 10 patent applications and won 9 Patent Awards.
Held since 2016, ISIF was organized between 27 April and 1 May 2023 within the scope of TEKNOFEST 2023 Aviation, Space and Technology Festival hosted by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, International Federation of Inventors Association (IFIA), Turkish Technology Team (T3 Foundation), European Patent Office (EPO), and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Organized under the leadership of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office and being Türkiye's only international invention fair, this event showcases many products and services for which patent applications have been made or whose intellectual property rights have been protected. This year, a total of 424 inventions from 31 countries, 286 of which are domestic and 138 of which are foreign, were exhibited.
Conducting studies with the support of KTU TTM and the provision of the necessary infrastructure, our inventors achieved great success at ISIF'23 with their national and international patents. At the fair, where innovative solutions in electronic devices, software, medical devices, innovative agricultural products, energy technologies, defense industry products, and many other fields took place, our University won a total of 9 awards with 3 gold, 5 silver, and 1 bronze medal.
IFIA Best Academic Invention Award to KTU
Our University also won the "Best Academic Invention Award", one of the 12 best inventions of the fair, given by the International Federation of Inventors Association (IFIA), which supports inventors worldwide. Prof. Dr. İbrahim ALP, one of the academicians of our university, and other inventors, Abdou Azizi YOUNPOUNGAM and Sadiye KATRANCI's patent named "Co-elemental Recovery & Selective Separation of Elements from Gold (Au) And Mercury (Hg) Metal" received the "Best Academic Invention Award".
